General Visitation DESCRIPTION

General Visitation is the closest thing we offer to a “zoo” experience, and because it isn’t likely much better than going to the zoo, we don’t really recommend it for most visitors. It offers you the opportunity to explore without the benefit of our knowledgeable tour guide, and without any oral presentation. Animals are not locked outside, so visibility of animals is entirely up to the animals. No age restrictions.

Weekends, when offered, General Visitation runs from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The sanctuary closes earlier on Saturdays and Sundays in order to accommodate other program options.

Weekdays, when offered, General Visitation runs from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

General visitation is intended primarily for Park Pal members, guests who have previously participated in a guided sanctuary tour program, those visiting with infants and/or toddlers, and those needing more time to tour than the guided tour format may allow.

We strongly urge all visitors to participate at least once in one of our guided tour programs which offer the greatest opportunity to see the most animal residents and to “get to know” them.  However, we recognize that the guided tour format may not be suitable for all schedules or parties.

To aid those who would like to learn as much as possible about the residents and our mission, but who opt for General Visitation, we also offer a free virtual tour made possible by a mobile app called iTourMobile. This free app is available for Apple and Android smartphones.  Download iTourMobile from the Apple Store, or from Google Play and locate our tour by turning on the “Location” feature on your smartphone.

If you are planning to visit with a group of 20 or more, please explore our Group Tour options instead for discount-eligible options.

Please note, all guests are expected to abide by rules for visitation. General Visitation participants will be required to attend an orientation concerning these rules upon arrival. All visitors will be closely monitored by Black Pine’s staff, whether on a guided tour or not.  In the event we lack the appropriate number of staff to chaperone General Visitation, we reserve the right to limit or change published schedules and will refund any fees collected.
