Parking is free! In the event our main visitor parking area fills, overflow parking may flow down the entry drive, and to grassy lawns on property adjacent to the sanctuary. If you require up-front parking for accessibility, please continue to the main visitor entrance where properly marked spaces are available, and/or step just inside the Wolf Den Gifts & Things where our host or hostess can further assist you.

Gift Shop

The Wolf Den Gifts & Things opened in 2014 and offers a wide variety of gifts and souvenirs for all ages! In addition to our on-site offerings, you can shop online, too, and enjoy an abbreviated selection, including gift cards that may be redeemed for any merchandise or program fees.  We accept cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover card for any purchase made in person, and additional credit cards online.

Food & Drink

You will find a small variety of packaged snacks and cold beverages inside the Wolf Den Gifts & Things, and one drinking fountain near restrooms. We do not offer any further concessions at this time, except as advertised for certain Special Events. Picnics are welcomed! We have electrical outlets available for parties who wish to use warming devices, however grilling or other cooking is not permitted. No alcohol please, but other food and drink is not restricted for carry-in. A number of restaurants are also located nearby. If you need a recommendation or further assistance, feel free to call us at 260-636-7383, or ask upon arrival.

Shelters & Picnic Areas

We offer two covered seating areas. The “pavilion” can seat about 50 people comfortably at traditional wooden picnic tables.

The “patio”, adjacent to the gift shop, also offers shelter and limited seating. Typically, up to 20 people can be seated here, and wheelchairs may be accommodated at the banquet-style tables.

These areas are available to all guests on a first-come, first-served basis, and may be available by reservation. We do not rent these facilities, they are included at no additional charge as part of the amenities available with paid admission.

Wireless internet service is available throughout most of our compound and in the Wolf Den Gifts & Things. Use keyword “blackpine” for guest access.

We have modern restrooms that offer a single toilet and urinal for men, and two toilets for women. Both restrooms have a sink, running water, electrical outlets, and are accessible. For larger groups, we strongly recommend trying to use restrooms prior to arrival for group programs, as lines can get long and take time off your program’s time allowance.

As of June 2017, the visitor parking lot and nearly all of the interior pathways for visitors throughout the compound are paved. A new path has been added to enable those needing assistance to visit the black bears, please watch for the sign directing guests to the “accessible path to the bears”.
Wheelchairs, walkers, motorized chairs, wagons, and strollers are welcomed. We have a very limited supply of donated wheelchairs, a wagon and a stroller that are free for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Sorry, no reservations.

Benches and other seating are provided throughout the compound for guest use.
